An ode to my lungs
Breathe, my love breathe!
Push against that stifling feeling,
Of society’s fingers pointing against your lack of beauty,
Brown and battered, you need to trudge on my love.
For every breath you fight for,
A rainbow shines in a cold winter morning,
That lights up the stars in a little girls eyes.
For every steep bend you refuse to give up on,
The butterfly kisses the wrinkly hands of the forgotten head of a family.
For every incline you conquer,
That ordinary man dresses up in that perfect black suit,
Carrying on with their ordinary day.
So my love, even if you feel like you are bursting,
Welcome that cold air in,
And like a million glass shards let it pierce your walls,
To let in the sun,
And light up the pathway to your soul,
To celebrate the extraordinary in every ordinary moment
